Wow, what a week! It has been quite the eventful week, that's for sure! On Monday, I was super excited to find a package from Rochacha on my doorstep! My dear friend Jenn, sent a package of pictures from her trip here, chip clips (which I desperately needed), two awesome mix cd's (she makes the best mixes), a toy for Milo and a yellow stethoscope. Yes a stethoscope. It was awesome! You see, I started taking a two-week CNA course this week and that stethoscope will come in handy. The course is a lot of info in a short amount of time but I'm really enjoying it and I'm hoping I will be able to get a job, once I obtain my certification. The course is taught by this Filipino lady, who is extremely sweet but very difficult for me to understand. There have been several instances when there has been a definite language barrier which makes for an interesting class! On Thursday, I asked at lunchtime what topics were going to be on Friday's test. She responded that we would be tested on our practical skills and that we would have a 2 hour review period to practice. So that's what my friend and I studied. Lo and behold, when she dismissed class, she said "don't forget about your test tomorrow on all the vocab from chapters 1-14." It's hard to get mad though, she is so sweet and encouraging and always smiling. All in all, it's a fun time!
In addition to the test issue on Thursday, we also had a very sick kitty on our hands. Our poor cat was extremely ill and by the time I left for school, would barely pick up his head. Joe was able to take him to the vet - $120 later, we were told that we would just have to wait and see if he got worse, oh and to switch his food. Joe went to get the new food and it cost $40 for a bag, I couldn't believe it! I spent the evening cleaning the floors and studying all that vocab! I had the radio on and they announced around 9 ish that we had a Tsunami watch which was quickly upgraded to a warning. We had a similar situation happen about the same time last year - you can read about it here. It is super scary with all the sirens. We were texting with several friends here including GI Joe's Wife, who kindly offered to let us stay with her. Sadly, we both lost service so we didn't end up going there. We packed up our stuff and were ready to leave at a moments notice to drive up the hill, if need be but ultimately decided to wait it out at our house.
Some of our stuff: Water, Important Papers, Tactical Tomahawk, Fire Extinguisher
Joe went with our neighbor to get some essentials:
I'm not sure when Reese's Puffs (which are amazing but really addicting), Hershey Bars and Reese Cups, Pop Tarts, and Rice Krispy treats became essentials but who am I to complain? It is seriously the most random group of essential items I have ever seen, Spam and Baked Beans (and Green Beans and Peaches), really? In a time of unknowns, it made me smile. After a sleepless night, listening to the developments on the radio, we waited around for the "all clear". We are thankful that Oahu was spared and our thoughts and prayers go to those who were impacted by the earthquake. We're thankful for our friends and family and all the sweet messages that were sent our way - thanks for thinking of us!

Glad to hear you guys are safe. I loved the "essentials" -- the treats all made me laugh :)
