Mother's Day Weekend

Our good friend had been deployed for several months and he arrived back on island on Saturday. He is one of Joe's closest friends on the island and we missed him a lot. We had a great time hanging out - eating lunch at Ruby Tuesdays and the seeing the Avengers (in 3D). It was fun to see the boys back together - they are hilarious and always end up getting into something.
Sunday we celebrated with a BBQ. Joe brought me a bunch of colorful flowers and a book.
We then celebrated at the mall with my favorite thing, ice cream! It is so hard to find good ice cream in Hawaii. We were walking around the mall when I spotted two girls with perfect ice cream cones. I found the ice cream stand & promptly ordered a two-scoop. It was by far the largest two-scoop ice cream I have ever seen - it was probably 16 scoops, it was huge & took me 3 days to finish - so worth the $2.50 price tag!
Peanut butter and mint chocolate chip - random but that's what baby wanted! ;)

A great way to end my first mother's day weekend!

Happy Mother's Day!!

I saw this website on a blog - it's a fun little website for the American Coalition for Labor Reparations - a little survey to determine how much we owe our moms for bringing us into this world. Mom, you might have to take it & let me know how much I owe. You know how I tend to over-estimate things! ;)

I love this video that was put out for the 2012 Olympics in London - Mom's sure are dedicated!

And finally, a prayer for moms:

"Oh that God would giveevery mother a visionof the glory and splendor of the work that is given to her when a babe is place in her bosom to be nursed and trained!Could she have but one glimpse in to the future of that life as it reaches on into eternity;could she look into it’s soul to see its possibilities;could she be made to understand her own personal responsibility for the training of this child, for the development of its life, and for its destiny,–she would see that in all God’s world there is no other work so noble and so worthy of her best powers, and she would commit to no others handsthe sacred and holy trust given to her.” -JR Miller

This time last year, I was spending the day with my Mom, here in Hawaii and it was awesome! Oh how I wish I could be doing the same this year. Hopefully next Mother's day, we will be able to all celebrate together.

Oh baby!

We are very excited to announce that we are expecting a baby due in late October! We were so excited to tell our family, so we skyped with them, then e-mailed this picture. It was so cool to see their reactions - they are just as excited as we are!
Since I work for an Ultrasound Place, I am blessed to get lots of pictures of our little one! Joe has set up our very own Wall O' Baby! It makes me smile every time I see it & is such a great reminder since I don't really feel very pregnant yet.
We are so excited to meet our little one, we can't wait!

Perspective on Marriage

A dear friend of mine posted this video on her facebook page and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. It is deeply moving and incredibly inspiring and really challenges me to examine my own attitudes in my marriage. I hope you take the time to watch it, it is well worth it.

Tuesday Things

Not much has been going on here but I have really been encouraged by a lot of little things recently!
  • Today, we had one of the nicest patients. She was super sweet & reading a book that caught my attention. We got to talking & turns out she went to University of MD & even had a roommate that was from my hometown! Pretty wild to meet someone from the east coast here in Hawaii!
  • There was the sweetest checkout lady at the store today, in just a moment she shared a few words that were such an encouragement. It reminded me a lot of that southern hospitality that I miss from home.
  • My husband bought an "I love my Wife" t-shirt. It makes me smile every time he wears it, I also seem to walk closer to him & hold his hand a little tighter, funny how that works. Man am I proud of that man, just saying...
  • Love waking up to e-mails from friends & even getting a chance to g-chat while I'm supposed to be getting ready for work!
  • My Pandora station seems to always play the perfect song
  • When I was driving in Ewa this weekend, I came across this sign & it cracked me up! So not what I was expecting to see!
  • Needless to say, I did not come across any Zombies in Ewa, so not really sure what the sign is all about!
Have a great Tuesday, friends! Hope you are finding joy in the little things!
