20 Weeks

I'm a little late to the game but I'm going to try to update every week. I'm tired of trying to rack my brain in attempt to remember what happened over the course of this pregnancy.
How far along: I’m due Oct 29, so I’m 20 weeks! Hard to believe, I’m halfway through. The time sure has flown by!

Size of Baby: Baby should be about the size of a banana & has been squirming away! I first felt it move at the end of 16 weeks but it has been getting stronger and stronger!

Gender: We don’t know yet. We’ve been going back and forth about whether or not we should find out but I can’t make up my mind. I’m so indecisive.
Sleep: I’ve been having a bit of a hard time falling asleep but that could be due to the fact that I haven’t been as active since I’ve been on bedrest. I’ve also been waking up a lot more frequently as nature seems to call a lot more often these days. I usually am awake around 4:00 am and the baby is always really active. It’s really neat to feel!
Weight Gain: I’m up to a 4 lb gain as of my last appointment (last Tuesday). Doctor was pretty pleased!
Pregnancy Clothes: One of my dear friends sent some maternity clothes which has been SO nice! I needed some more to help supplement, so I picked up some great finds on Craigslist this past week. I’ve mainly been wearing maternity tops – my jeans/pants fit fine. I did wear a pair of maternity pants for the first time yesterday (the pants I have on in the above pic) and I loved them, so comfy! I also bought two maternity dresses at Target (on sale
J) for church – can’t wait to wear them!
Movement: We have a squirmer! This kiddo moves all the time, it is so cool! Joe has even been able to feel it once or twice when I really get jabbed!
Pregnancy Symptoms: All in all I feel better good! The biggest adjustment has been getting used to the belly!
Food Cravings: This week I really wanted seafood. I’ve also had a hankering for peanut butter cookies and ice cream but that is not new (or exclusive to my pregnancy).
What I miss: My clothes fitting properly
What I am looking forward to: Picking out stuff for the baby registry. It is overwhelming for me as it seems like there is so much stuff that one needs for a little baby but I’m having fun checking out all the cool stuff that’s out there.
Weekly Wisdom: The time is already flying by and we’ll meet Baby C before we know it. I have been trying to slow down & really enjoy the process. There’s 140 days left (if baby comes on his/her due date), so I’ve been trying to read a Psalm a day as a count down & an effort to keep my focus where it should be.
Best moment this week: It’s a long story but our neighbor & Joe thought that my neighbor’s car got stolen yesterday. After filing with the MPs and the Honolulu Police Department, he and Joe got home and told me the story. I was confused & said I thought they had met up at church – that’s when they realized the stolen car was actually at church and hadn’t been stolen at all. They had to inform the police and MPs in person in order to cancel the police report. The police were going to do this big investigation because they thought it was a prank but when I wandered up and asked how long it was going to be, they let the guys go. So my pregnant self saved those guys, not once but twice yesterday!
Milestones: First time in maternity pants! Won’t be the last…

Baby Bump

The elusive Baby Bump has finally made a blog appearance! I'm having a hard time believing that I'm 20 weeks already - the time seems to have flown by!

Pregnancy Highlights (I really should have written these down instead of trying to remember off the top of my head...)
  • In the 1st Trimester I didn't suffer from morning sickness (Praise the Lord), the only symptom I really had was being super fatigued. I would fall asleep in my car on my lunch break, as soon as I got home from work - I felt like I slept all the time!
  • I had the most vivid dreams in my 1st Trimester - they were so detailed and felt so real. Two that stand out are my brother and I winning 2 million dollars in a under-water boating contest and me changing careers to become a Tattoo Artist who was also a Medical Assistant - weird I know!
  • I haven't had any odd food cravings yet...well maybe I could count the week where I ate Buffalo Wings more nights than not. I was really into fruit and veggies and Greek Yogurt in the beginning and my co-workers joked that if they couldn't find me to check the break room, I was always in there snacking away! Every food I ate tasted amazing - even something simple like rice (with a little butter and a lot of black pepper) was "the best thing I've ever had!" I've recently had a thing for "one-eyed Jacks" and just might go make one after this post!
  • At my 15 week appointment, I was told that I needed to work on gaining more weight - I'd only gained a tenth of a pound the entire pregnancy though I felt like it was *way* more! Don't worry, I've since made up for it.... :)
  • I purchased a Belly Band at Week 18, it made wearing jeans so much more comfortable. I went on bedrest for 3 weeks & now my jeans fit fine (I even need to wear a belt) but my belly's bigger - go figure! Pretty sure the Belly Band will be making it's appearance in my wardrobe again soon though.
  • I went to a "New Baby Expo" and had a lot of fun checking out the different booths full of baby gear (though it was quite overwhelming). I came home with a lot of paper flyers and a $25 mop. Yes I got suckered into buying a mop, the salesman was very good at his job, what can I say?!?
I'm sure there's more but that's all I can think of, I really wish I would have written this stuff down!

Surviving Bedrest

There have been several times over the past few weeks when out of sheer desperation I've googled "How to Survive Bedrest." It certainly was something I was not expecting to deal with, especially for something unrelated to my pregnancy but so far I'm managing to survive. My sweet husband has been making sure that I am eating & has even been cleaning the house. He was able to be home with me for the first several days and it was so nice to have him here. He stocked up on audio books at the library. I don't think there's any way I'll be able to get through all these but I'm prepared just in case.
One of Joe's co-workers stopped by with a bag full of movies - I stopped counting at 30! That's a lot of movies but it's been great to have some other entertainment options. It was so sweet of her to stop by and I really appreciated her thoughtfulness and company.
One of my co-workers sent flowers. They are beautiful and really brighten up my kitchen!

Another set of friends, stopped by last night with some flowers as well. It was so nice to actually see people! It's hard not to go stir-crazy sometimes!
It's been nice to have extra time to be able to have nice long chats with friends from back home! I'll admit, I've even snuck in a few naps here and there, it is bedrest after-all! :)
