Sesame Street was one of my favorite shows growing up. When I was a kid, my favorite episode was "Big Bird Goes to Japan" and my mom said I would walk around the house saying "Ohio" (good morning in Japanese) - which I learned from the show. Snuffleupagus was one of my favorite characters. Wow, I just realized that you know my life is boring when I start out talking about a show that I haven't seen in probably twenty-some years.... wooo-weee sorry about that! The whole point of that entrance was just to say that I am sick of being sick! It's been two and a half days and that is two and a half days to many to spend in gorgeous Hawaii feeling anything less than fantastic! I'll spare y'all the details but just know 'it ain't pretty' - I knew there was a reason "in sickness and in health" was in our vows...A lot has happened in the past several days and I've been a bad blogger and haven't been updating, I fill you in now. I'll start with current and work my way back....
Yesterday was Joe's birthday. I managed to make him his favorite cake yesterday (Funfetti) and even more impressive was able to clean up a bit before he got home. I was excited for him to open his presents - I got him a tripod and a really cool camera backpack. I had put a lot of research into finding a good carrying case for his camera - he really liked it, so that was good. We even put it to good use last night by heading to the beach to take some sunset pics. Sadly, we missed the sunset by a few minutes but he still managed to get some really cool photos!
Monday was a pretty fun day. My neighbor Jamie, invited me to go to the NEX (Navy Exchange in Honolulu - it's like a big mall) with her an her son Robert (14 months). We had a really good
time and it was nice to get to spend some time with Jamie - she is really cool and we get along well. It's just a shame she is moving this week. The rest of the day I ran errands and practiced driving my new (to me) car!! It's my ♥ #6* - a silver Honda Civic and it's a stick-shift. So far I am doing pretty well. Joe and I decided it was high time to get me some wheels as I was absolutely going stir crazy being stuck in a house for 12-14 hours a day by myself. We also had two cases where I really needed a car - one time I even ended up having to take a taxi - a $65 taxi!! Never again!*just to clarify my ♥ #6 is the fact that I have a car, not necessarily the car itself - my silver scion has a special place in my heart, lol
Sunday, we went to church and it was a really good sermon. So far, we really like going there & hope to get to meet some more people (♥ #7) ! We ran some errands and then met up with the neighbors in the evening. We had a really fun time hanging out! And no, we did not watch the Superbowl. I did manage to catch up on the commercials though later on!
Saturday Joe worked :( and I putzed around the house...nothing too exciting there!
So that officially concludes the five day recap that I so desperately needed to post! So sorry for the delay! Since I hear it's snowing like mad in Maryland, stay warm and drink some hot chocolate for me! I'm making enchilada's in my covered baker (♥ #8) from pampered chef. I'm super excited about it - I LOVE enchiladas (♥ #9), I'll let you know how it turns out!
