Sadly, the jungle is exactly what our yard looks like! :( My husband and our neighbor had this great (in their eyes) idea to put blankets over the yard to kill the weeds. This may have seemed like a good idea in theory but what actually happened is the blankets created a greenhouse effect and the weeds went insane. I was so sick of looking at the blankets that I was bound and determined to de-ghettofy our yard but I was in no way prepared for what I saw when I removed the blankets. The weeds were so intense I couldn't even our rotary lawn mower - some of them were as tall as I was! I ended up having to weed the yard by hand and boy do I feel it today! I worked for four hours and would have kept going but the Hawaii sun ended up baking the soil making it impossible to pull the weeds. It's ok, I'll leave the rest for Joe.

Oh, man .... good for you for tackling the jungle!
ReplyDeleteAre you enjoying your summer? I've thought of escaping to Hawaii....
I don't even wanna think about our back yard!
ReplyDeleteohhhhhhh, we've been there before. we get the waist highers too and it seems like they shoot up overnight. try SOAKING the ground first, they're much easier to pull that way.
ReplyDeleteps: your jungle looks a lot more civilized than ours.
Its not that bad. I'm sure you will have a backyard in a matter of weeks!
